The JBDC’s Incubator & Resource Centre (IRC) came alive with laughter, tears, and memories as a number of specially invited guests came together to celebrate the remarkable 23 years of legacy Valerie Veira, “Mother of Jamaica’s MSMEs” and former CEO of the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), following a send-off event held to acknowledge her retirement recently.

The event dubbed Cheers to Ms V which saw glowing tributes from a number of persons on whose lives and businesses Veira had made an impact, was also attended by Minister of Industry, Investment, and Commerce Aubyn Hill who added his own sentiments, lauding the lady of the hour for her years of service to public office and her visionary leadership in moulding and positively impacting entrepreneurs and the development of the country’s MSME sector.

In full agreement with all that was said, the scores of guests gathered for the momentous occasion used every opportunity to raise a toast to the matriarch — ‘Cheers to Ms. V’.

Business Social shares snapshots from the event.

Valerie Veira shares a hug with Sagicor executives Michael Willacy and Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham, as they present her with an art piece.

Acting CEO of JBDC Harold Davis (centre) and manager for the Corporate Communications Unit Suzette Campbell present the former CEO with a framed tribute.

Randy McLaren, managing director of Bresheh, the Jamaican vegan leather backpack company, shares in the tributes as he expressed his love and gratitude for Ms V.

Veira rocks to the sweet mento rhythms of the Rhumbaka Band.

Minister Hill and Harold Davis unveil a time capsule to a shock but delighted Veira during the send-off event.
